Nate Shue got his start in plumbing in his early 20s, earning his P1 Plumbing license in Wilmington, NC. With a natural knack for problem-solving and a desire to do meaningful work, he set out to build something lasting.
In January 2017, he and his wife Paige turned that vision into reality. Together, in the small town of Rocky Point, NC, they launched Sustainable Plumbing, working side by side out of their garage and focusing on water filtration systems. It was humble, hands-on, and fueled by a shared dream.
Not long after, they gained a third team member- Bo, a rescue pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He quickly became the company mascot, greeting clients with a wag and reminding them that Sustainable Plumbing was built on heart and hustle.
But every story has its twists. A couple of years in, Hurricane Florence swept through North Carolina, and like so many others, the Shues were forced to make tough decisions. They packed up, pivoted, and relocated to Concord, NC in 2019.
Instead of slowing down, they leveled up. What started as a two-person water filtration service grew into a full-service plumbing company offering
residential and commercial work, and even virtual plumbing consultations.
With every move, the mission stayed the same: to offer high-quality, sustainable plumbing solutions rooted in integrity and community.
Today, Sustainable Plumbing isn’t just a business—it’s a family legacy in the making. From side-by-side beginnings to a growing, purpose-driven team, Nate, Paige, and Bo are proof that with a little grit (and a lot of heart), small beginnings can lead to big impact.
